The Twelve Powers of Christmas #4

Gathering, Gifts, and the Gospel

Gathering, Gifts, and the Gospel

So far in this series about the potential of the Christmas season, I have mentioned nine powers of Christmas – now I want to introduce three more.

There is something immensely potent about gathering around a table with family and friends or gathering as a community around a common purpose.

When the carol, ‘…O come all ye faithful…’ was written, it was an invitation to gather on Christmas Day to sing, ‘…born this happy morning…’

Nowadays, tragically, many eat on their own, and many others don’t attend Christmas services. Is it time to resurrect this power? And when we give gifts, which I hope we do, should we take time to remember why we do it?

When Jesus proclaimed the kingdom of God, He told stories and painted pictures to convey the inexpressible. Isn’t the Christmas season, with all its images and symbols, the perfect opportunity to communicate the good news to a world which so desperately needs it.

Are you open to open your home this Christmas?

Are your prepared to prioritize the Christmas services?

Will you take time in this frenetic season to thank God for His indescribable Gift?

Can you employ the twelve powers of Christmas to better effect?
