Revelation #10

As I have already stated in my previous thoughts on the letters to the churches in the Book of Revelation, each letter starts with an unveiling of Jesus Christ.
This revelation was exactly what each church needed.
The church at Philadelphia was faithful and yet weary. As the letter says, “...you have little strength, yet you have kept my word…” (Revelation 3:8).
When we are tired, we need to close our eyes, but when we are weary, we need to have them opened. And that is exactly what happens here.
The church is told: “…These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open…” (Revelation 3:7).
It is revealed to them that Jesus Christ is sovereign, powerful, and trustworthy. Nothing can thwart His will. It’s an unveiling we all need.
If you are exhausted after a tough year, or perhaps feeling weak like the church in Philadelphia, why don’t you do what the Bible encourages: “…Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart…” (Hebrews 12:3).
A revelation of Christ will strengthen your resolve.
