Thoughts on Thinking #7
The Battle for Our Mind
The Battle for Our Mind

Have you ever felt as though your thoughts were under attack? As though you were being besieged by doubt, anxiety, or fear.
You’re not on your own - we all have. But how do we resist those attacks?
The Bible says, “…The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ…” (2 Corinthians 10:4-5).
We can draw several conclusions from this passage.
Firstly, we are able to control our thinking. With God’s help, we can find peace of mind.
Secondly, we must use spiritual weapons to gain victory. Positive thinking without prayer is ultimately powerless.
Thirdly, we must capture a deceptive thought before it develops into something stronger. It is easier to remove a fleeting doubt than an established lie.
And finally, we must submit all our thinking to Jesus Christ.
He is the subject of our confession (Hebrews 3:1) and the object of our consideration (Hebrews 12:2-3).
So, this passage assures us that we can win the battle of our mind with the correct weapons. But what are they?
That’s our next question.
