Revelation #3

The Recipients of Revelation

The Recipients of Revelation

There is a wonderful promise at the beginning of the Book of Revelation:

“…Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near…” (Revelation 1:3).

Even if this book is sometimes difficult to understand, we can be confident that its faithful declaration will attract divine favour.

But the unveiling of Jesus Christ always comes with responsibility.

This verse suggests that revelation must be received, recorded, read aloud, taken to heart, and proclaimed with urgency. These five responsibilities are worth considering.

John received his revelation of Jesus Christ before he brought God’s message to the churches.

We may not see what he saw but we must know Christ before we make Him known.

However, the book not only reveals the exaltation of Christ, but it also records the demise of Satan.

If we read it aloud, declare its truth, and are attentive to its contents, as it encourages, our victory in Christ can be made clearer both to us and our hearers.

Do you have a longing to know Christ better?

Have you read the Book of Revelation aloud?

How did the audience respond as you declared it in faith?
