Revelation #2

The Servants of Jesus Christ

The Servants of Jesus Christ

There has been much discussion about the letters to the seven churches in the Book of Revelation.

Some say they are written to specific churches, some that they are written to all churches, and others that they represent different ages of the church. There has also been some dispute about the book’s author and the churches’ angels.

But, whatever our conclusions, there is no doubt that God wanted a revelation of Jesus Christ to be given to the churches through His servants.

Both John and the angels were messengers – servants of God, seers of revelation and spokespeople to the churches.

As it says, “…The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who testifies to everything he saw…” (Rev 1:1-2).

These two verses give us a mandate and a methodology. Like the angels, we are servants, commanded by God and called to minister to the churches.

And what should we speak about?

What we have seen of the Son.

The Book of Revelation is filled with mystery, but, in our discussions, we mustn’t forget the simple message – the unveiling of Jesus Christ.

Have we complicated our calling?

Have we received a revelation of Jesus Christ?

Are we sharing what we have seen?
