Our Legacy #3
We Pass On What We Carry
We Pass On What We Carry

In this series, I am addressing the importance of passing on our spiritual entrustment to the next generation. Our spiritual legacy depends on the faithfulness of our stewardship.
I have been illustrating this idea from my own family. For instance, my great, great, great, grandfather, Daniel Gavey, was in the military.
As a result of his constant travelling, he carried his important letters and papers in a travelling desk. I still have his desk. We pass on what we can carry.
This is not just true naturally; it is also true spiritually. When Paul was imprisoned, he asked his friends to pass on his letters and his encouragement to the churches under his care.
He wrote, “…Tychicus, the dear brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will tell you everything, so that you also may know how I am and what I am doing. 22 I am sending him to you for this very purpose, that you may know how we are, and that he may encourage you…” (Ephesians 6:21-22).
Tychicus was a carrier of good news, and we are the beneficiaries of what he carried.
Are we carrying the responsibilities we have been given?
Will our descendants suffer because of the unnecessary burdens we carry?
When we travel, are we carriers of peace, encouragement, and good news?
